5 Things I Have Learned About Motivating Myself...

...and Achieving My Dreams Are...

1. My goals need to be clearly defined

2. Most people set too small of goals to make them worth reaching

3. Set bold and outrageous goals, so that when you hit them it will blow you away!

4. Base your goals on a WHY not a HOW There is no power in HOW!

5. State them in the present tense as if you have already attained them.

These 5 understandings are applicable to any person desiring to set and obtain goals.

Kevin The Kinetic

Here is a perfect description of me. Why did I not know this whilst I was but a lad?

The kinetic energy of an object is the extra energy which it possesses due to its motion. It is defined as the work needed to accelerate a body of a given mass from rest to its current velocity. Having gained this energy during its acceleration, the body maintains this kinetic energy unless its speed changes. Negative work of the same magnitude would be required to return the body to a state of rest from that velocity.

I am, at the very least, ADD.

That Was Then

Wiseguy. What's in a name? It was in the summer of '69, when my neighbor and hero, Jim Ward first called me that. Wiseguy it was. Jim was a tall, good looking high school sophomore, all-star baseball player and my hero. He could throw a baseball a million miles in the sky! A million miles I tell ya. It looked like a rocket. I wanted to be like him, around him and heck, when I grow up, I wanna BE him!

Always lacking for attention, I would do anything. My sense of humor was fairly well developed at an early age, so I loved to make Jim laugh. Since I was the jester, he gave me the appropriate nickname: Wiseguy! It stuck. Everyone called me that, even my dad. Hell, he knew it was true.

Those summer days were filled with baseball, apple pie and Chevrolets. We played baseball like we were getting paid. Our side lawn served as the field. Our windows served as a reminder that "breakers pay alone!" Linford glass loved us and summer.

Everywhere I went, people seemed to know, that's "wiseguy." They also knew I deserved the title. I saw more time in the principal's office than he did. I missed more recesses than the rest of the class combined. I even hand to hold the teachers hand for an entire day! All day, everywhere, like I was a baby. I was nearly ten years old for pete's sake. The upside? She was beautiful, young, had a sexy southern accent, looked like Ms. Crump on Andy Griffith and I was in love!

How do you celebrate your special occassions?

Yesterday, April 22nd, my wife Debbie and I celebrated 29 years of marriage. It was, to say the least, a very low key event. A little errand running together, which we rarely do,  a little entertainment and a nice meal.

The thought struck me, that perhaps we really did not C E L E B R A T E each other, but acknowledged the day as special, spent a little more time together than normal and broke bread.

There was a time when I took these events very seriously. Flowers, trips, gifts, romance, excessive food, etc. What happened and are we the only ones who have "dumbed down" our PDA, our romance, our zest for life together?

Any ideas or input on how to get that spark back? She certainly deserves more than I delivered...

Get Serious About Your Personal Development, then E X E C U T E!

I spent the better part of 2 days last week in the company of some of the brightest minds in my industry. I spent nearly every waking hour working with people who are making a difference in other peoples lives. One person at a time. Our business is the Network Marketing or Multi-level Marketing industry.

Now before you touch your mouse to leave this page, think of this:

Success Magazine, founded over 100 years ago, states about itself: "SUCCESS magazine is designed specifically to serve the growing entrepreneur, the home-based and small-business markets.

Suze Orman, Financial Adivsor, whom Time magazine calls "one of the world's most influential people," says this: "A home-based business is an incredible way - without riking any money so to speak, to...create an independent income stream."

Robert Kiyosaki, author of the Rich Dad series calls it simply "the business of the 21st century."

The network marketing/direct selling industry is a $30 billion industry in the United States alone, see more impressive data here: Direct Selling 411

By joining yourself to a network marketing/direct selling company, you are aligning yourself with opportunity.

The overarching theme of the conference I attended was this: We are, as an industry, in the personal development business.

Nowhere else have I seen so many training and development programs offered to "non-employees" as I have in this industry. No where! If you want to improve, and I believe we all do, then this is the place and now is the time.

Some of the talent we hear from around the industry includes Robert Kiyosaki, Donald Trump, John Maxwell, Jim Collins, Denis Waitley, Dave Ramsey, Joel Osteen, the late and great Jim Rohn and many, many more. For years I have heard the statement from franchises, and the like, that you are "in business for yourself, but not by yourself!" The DSA and its member companies literally put their money where their mouth is. They walk this talk.

Start for a little, leave with a lot. By small things are great things accomplished!

In this industry as with any other it requires desire, commitment, sacrifice and action. It is not a "get rich quick" scheme, it is a "get rich slow and steady." Joining yourself to the right company is the critical success factor. There are many companies to choose from and they are as widely different as apples and oranges, but the truly great companies have several things in common. It is the execution of these commonalities that makes the difference. Just as the best team and the worst basketball teams have the same salary cap, the same number of available players, the same size basketball and hoop, etc. It comes down to execution. Execution = Action!

Things to look for, in my estimation, are these, although this is just a partial list:
  • Integrity & Trust
  • Training & Support
  • Financial Strength
  • Corporate Leadership
  • Product(s)
Each of these need to be explored. You need to be comfortable with these and more. You need to be comfortable because you are going to be putting your reputation on the line each and every time you introduce someone to your new endeavor. You ARE the company to that person, so the more you know, the greater your comfort, the better your execution.

That's where our industry shines...we can teach you how to execute! Once you are committed...take action.

A committed person on fire is U N S T O P P A B L E !

Let's Get Committed Together, It's time to Get Serious About Your Personal Development!

When Your WHY is Big Enough...The HOW Doesn't matter!

My life in Direct Selling has lead me to several important understandings.

First - No matter who, what or where we are in our lives, nothing else matters IF we do not know WHY we are. I know that is not grammatically correct, but you get the point, right?

Second - No matter HOW much you want change for others, you cannot bring that about, unless THEY want it more and are willing to DO the work.

"Only if a person wants, needs, can accept, and above all else, will help themselves, can YOU help them." James Tolleson

Third - All change begins with belief. "

"Whether you think you can or you think you can't, you are right!" Henry Ford

OK, so here is the path, which can easily be adapted to ANY business, ANY endeavor, ANY relationship. It literally comes down to this: If you want to create ANYTHING worth creating, you MUST plan accordingly.

Think blueprints. Think schematics. Think bridges, buildings, damns, and more. Planning, planning and a little more PLANNING. Then you review the plans, you invite "experts" to review the plans and ultimately you EXECUTE.

Following these simples steps GUARANTEES you nothing...executing them at least guarantees you GROWTH and PROGRESS. Join me, and thousands of others, as we FINE TUNE our WHY!

1.Rediscovering Your Why

Conceptualize and visualize:
• Why You Joined your company
• Why you PROSPECT
• What Drives you

2. Evaluate Your Current Goals

“If you are not experiencing the kind of growth you desire, it is simply that your goals are not clearly defined” – Paul J. Meyer

3. Re-set your Mind – Re-set your future
Your Current most dominant thought creates your current experience.

4. Begin to “reframe” your thinking, to “reframe” your world
Two of the most powerful words in any language are: “I AM”

• I Am Grateful
• I Am Powerful
• I Am a Recruiter
• I Am a People Magnet
• I Am a Leader

I AM ________________________________________________

Play with this concept. Write in the present moment.

You might begin with a lead in like “I am so happy and grateful now that…”

Don't write just one, write many. Write them over and over again, until they become part of YOU

“What you think about, what you thank about, you bring about” Dr. John Demartini

In Part II of this exercise, we will go into the remaining steps that are essential to your M A S S I V E O U T C O M E !!

The shortest distance between two lines....is another line
